Universal and Blumhouse will be back for a second callback with a sequel to the 2021 sleeper horror hit The Black Phone. Variety is reporting that both companies are counting on this being the "launch of a sinister new franchise." The sequel is set to premiere in June 2025.The Black Phone starred Ethan Hawke as a child killer called the Grabber, and Mason Thames, a 13-year-old boy named Finney who becomes the Grabber's latest victim. The Grabber locks Finney in a soundproof basement, where he's helpless until a disconnected telephone begins ringing.When Finney answers it, he finds out he's able to talk to the spirits of the Grabber's murder victims.
