Official price points and preorder dates have yet to be confirmed by Microsoft or Asus ahead of the ROG Xbox Ally's October 16 launch. Clarity on these questions is imminent, though.As spotted by The Verge, Asus has started a countdown on its Facebook page with the label "preorders dropping soon!" The clock will hit zero tonight, September 25, at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. Previously, we had speculated preorders could start today due to Xbox's Tokyo Game Show presentation. The ROG Xbox Ally is playable on the show floor at the event, so it looks like the team working the show won't need to field questions about price/preorders from attendees the whole time. It's not clear if preorders will open tonight, but we will at least know when you can order the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X as well as for how much.The internet has been rife with rumors about the price of the handhelds, which Xbox co-developed with Asus. Listings for both handhelds have appeared on Amazon and Best Buy. While Amazon has removed its store pages, Best Buy still has both handhelds on its site. At one point, the ROG Xbox Ally was listed at $550, while the ROG Xbox Ally X was $850. The prices were quickly removed, so it's possible the final price points will differ. As we've come to expect, the ongoing tariff situation in the US is playing a major role here. Just last week, Microsoft announced price increases for the Xbox Series X|S in the US; the new prices take effect October 3.
