PlayStation State Of Play September 2026: All The Biggest Announcements, Games, And Trailers

Sony's September State of Play broadcasts have wrapped up, and these were a pretty chunky look at a wide variety of games. Some of the highlights included an April 2027 release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, a sneak peek at the Resident Evil movie, and a stacked selection of games being developed by Japanese and Asian studios. While we didn't get to see any new trailers for upcoming PS5 games like God of War Laufey and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the show still had plenty of new games to show off, confirmed release dates, and more. Austin Abram's character, Bryan, has found himself in a seemingly deserted street in Raccoon City, but it's not long before infected members of the town are literally hurling themselves at him from rooftops--and yes, there's a LOT of blood. The film is out soon on September 18. Marvel's Wolverine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyYL1WR_nZo Ahead of its September 15 release, one more trailer for Marvel's Wolverine was revealed. The main focus here was Bolivar Trask's mutant-hunting program, which led to the creation of the infamous Sentinel robots. Ghost of Yotei https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlchabfwy_w Up next was Ghost of Yotei, and fans looking to test their mettle--and their metal--can get ready for a new hardcore roguelite survival mode in single-player. You can play as several characters from Ghost of Yotei and Ghost of Tsushima's protagonist, Jin. It'll be available starting October 1. Jin Sakai Returns In Upcoming Ghost Of Yotei Roguelike DLC Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition: Ghosts of Sekigahara https://youtu.be/d48IWwIRg98 A brand-new story expansion that delves into Atsu's past, Ghosts of Sekigahara offers a whole new area of Ezo to explore, new enemies, and a new weapon to master. There'll also be new armor types, new cosmetics, and more to collect when the expansion launches on October 1. Out in 2027, Ascendance adds all-new monsters to hunt, gear to acquire, and new locations to explore. Metro 2039 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKY_Ks_VG9Q The Metro games by 4A Games have always been masterclasses in crafting atmospheric dread, and it looks like Metro 2039 will continue to raise the bar for making you sweat during hostile encounters. The new gameplay on the PS5 Pro was a tense showdown between the game's protagonist and hostile forces, all set to the tune of a chirping Geiger counter. Mettro 2039 launches on February 4, 2027. Maneater is back, and in case you missed out on the first game that allowed you to unleash your inner Jaws, you can look forward to a new sequel. Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emymTTsBjFc One of the biggest hits of the year, Crimson Desert's next big DLC was shown off. Charting the Unknown follows Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane as they set out to discover their purpose and shape their futures. It'll be available starting October 15. Lego PlayStation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FB8SIlnd6c That rumored Lego PlayStation set is real! Based on the iconic console, the set has over 1,900 pieces, is a 1:1 replica, and has multiple diorama scenes inside it. Final Fantasy Resonance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZvZYwQdXN8 There sure are a lot of games out this year with a Resonance theme in their title, aren't there? A new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance showed off more of the HD-2D game in action, including a boss battle against Final Fantasy 7 baddie Sephiroth. I guess no single game can contain the best antagonist in video game history. A demo for Final Fantasy Resonance is also now available. Gundam: Rogue Orbit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbTZpgq19ew Gundam doesn't have the best track record when it comes to video games, but could Gundam: Rogue Orbit change all that? The new gameplay trailer for Rogue Orbit certainly looks eye-catching, as you'll pilot a giant mech against even bigger threats in this action game. The release date was also revealed, and you can expect to step into your Gundam on March 5, 2027. Hunter's Moon is a first-person historical folk-horror game, coming to PS5 on October 26. Uncanyon https://youtu.be/oSLtfQ-HqLM Another interesting indie on the horizon, players will explore fantastical lands and mysterious, puzzle-filled ruins in Uncanyon. Keeper https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PilyJu1DDEo Now that it's no longer one of Xbox's first-party studios, it looks like Double Fine is bringing more of its games to PlayStation. First up is Keeper, its charming adventure starring a sentient, mobile lighthouse on a mission of discovery. It's available starting today for PS5. Rev. Noir https://youtu.be/7feaOQVG5aE It wouldn't be a State of Play without an action-packed anime-inspired game, and Rev. Noir looks like it fits that bill. This RPG from Konami follows a young boy named Asch on a journey to stop the lightfall, a catastrophe that kills all it touches. As the young magus Ellie Myers, it's up to you to stop a threat that endangers the entire world--and we're not talking about the proliferation of horrible Jazz music. "The Mafia has magic?" might just be one of the funniest lines of 2026. It was uttered in the story trailer for Rhapsody in Scarlet, and you can check it out below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX6kr_DoXK8 PlayStation Plus updates Mycopunk will be added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers. The PlayStation Classics library is also being updated over the next couple of months, as Mega Man X Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and Ratchet and Clank will be added to it. More PlayStation Plus Games Revealed, Including A Day-One Release Saros: Zenith https://youtu.be/PpM1KUTh43o Looking for an extra challenge in Housemarque's Saros? The Zenith update is the next big free content update, and it adds the new Overlord Rush mode, Eclipse Layers, New Game+ mode, more progression options, new Carocosan modifiers, and new accessibility features. Gran Turismo: Spec IV https://youtu.be/qxFIHS2KhbM The Spec IV update will launch in two parts later this year, and it'll add new circuits, new cars, Family Mode, and more to the game. The first part is out in October, and the second follows in December. Until Dawn 2: Choice and Consequences https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA0n6t-iLBw At long last, Until Dawn is getting a sequel. Until Dawn 2: Choice and Consequences features a ghost-hunting crew on the hunt for their biggest story yet, but things take a chilling turn when their chase leads them to Akishima Island, a remote paradise abandoned for decades and hiding deadly secrets. You can choose between a white or a black DualSense controller, and each one features a shimmering, iridescent finish, textured palm leaf details, and official GTA 6 branding. Preorders start September 10, and the controllers will start shipping out on November 19. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRA759MHPJs The Unknown Journey of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is coming to an end, as Final Fantasy 7 Revelation officially launches on April 8, 2027. Square Enix also showed off more gameplay, including travel from inside Cid's airship, the Highwind, a closer look at the FITS system, and how you can switch between gameplay styles. All about games from Japan and Asia, things kicked off with a new trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. The game will feature more than 130 characters, including non-playable characters, from whom you can learn skills to build the ultimate warrior. Fate/Extra Record https://youtu.be/nr5-XGIkbg4 I'm not going to pretend that the naming convention for the Fate series games makes any sense, but they continue to look like fun RPGs. This is a remake of the first Fates game, which originally debuted in 2010, and it includes an expanded scenario, completely overhauled character graphics, and a highly strategic, deck-building, dramatic command battle system, all on top of enhanced visuals. It's out on January 28, 2027. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World https://youtu.be/_9nrXc0-vm8 Need a Pokemon-like game on PS5? Then check out the next entry in the Dragon Quest series, as you'll get to take control of Monster Wranglers as they embark on an adventure through a mysterious world alongside their newly acquired monsters. The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes https://youtu.be/c9V5ugavBQU The Eminence in Shadow is one of the weirder Isekai anime out there, but for the fans of this edgy show that follows a reincarnated man playing a secret mastermind in a fantasy-inspired world, you can look forward to a new game based on it. Billed as a roguelite action game, it'll be out in 2027. Rematch Season 5: Blue Lock https://youtu.be/MLDGArmX0Tw One of the best soccer games that you can play today, Rematch, is teaming up with the hit sports anime series Blue Lock. This should be one to keep an eye out for, if you're a fan of the beautiful game and anime. Where the Seeds Fall https://youtu.be/zdDJlYAVe-c You're probably going to want to avoid this game if you have a fear of heights! Where the Seeds Fall follows a soldier who goes against orders and adopts a cursed child, and together, the two descend the World Tree as they uncover the truth of the world--one leap of faith at a time. WPCA: World Phasebound Control Authority https://youtu.be/fIFA-lY_f6o For some fresh horror vibes, check out the trailer for WPCA: World Phasebound Control Authority. Become a Containment Agent, encounter supernatural phenomena, and try to escape the containment zone in one piece as you work to protect humanity from the threats within. Stupid Never Dies https://youtu.be/k_33MQFuVEY Stupid Never Dies--which sounds like a description of my disastrous skateboarding phase that I somehow survived--got a new trailer during State of Play. An action-RPG about the weakest zombie growing ridiculously powerful, the underdog adventure launches on October 21. SlashZero https://youtu.be/nrJuL3XSLTc SlashZero is a side-scrolling roguelike game with a roster of unique playable characters and deep buildcrafting. A time-limited demo for it is now available. Digimon: Time Stranger - A Hero's Eternal Legacy expansion https://youtu.be/8v_Mg3yAnSY Digimon: Time Stranger was one of our favorite games of last year, and we're pretty chuffed to see that more content is on the way for it. Set three years after the events of the game, A Hero's Eternal Legacy is a new expansion that launches in 2027. Crown of No Quarter https://youtu.be/OqViikdsc7Y The debut trailer for Crown of No Quarter teased a world of endless battle for warriors from across the ages. You'll need to gather your forces, sail the seas, and invade strongholds in this game. Daba: Land of Water Scar https://youtu.be/YBTN74SHUnk With the world dying of thirst--literally--it's up to the awakened Clayman to cross ruined snowfields and desolate deserts to reforge a divine soul and bring salvation to the world. The trailer didn't reveal too much, but Daba looks like a rock-solid action game from Sony's China Hero Project initiative....
