The Alien franchise is best known for its numerous films, but the sci-fi horror property also spans video games, books, and graphic novels. Soon, one of the best comic runs, Alien: Galaxy of Nightmares, is getting a chunky new paperback omnibus edition on June 9. The collection will compile 19 issues written by Eisner Award-nominated author Phillip Kennedy Johnson, and fans can preorder it now for $45 at Amazon. Alien: Galaxy of Nightmares $45 | Releases on June 3 Alien: Galaxy of Nightmares is a 456-page omnibus that features Alien (2021) 1-12, Alien (2022) 1-6, and Alien Annual (2022) 1, all of which are written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, with art by Salvador Larroca, Julius Ohta, and Gabriele Dell'Otto. Johnson's first storyline follows Gabriel Cruz, a retired security chief for the Weyland-Yutani corporation who takes on a suicide mission to save his son from Xenomorphs. The second storyline is set in an off-world terraforming station manned by a religious sect--and surprise--it's infested by Xenomorphs. One brave woman dying from a rare disease decides to face them head-on in an effort to protect her flock. The final major arc in this trade paperback spotlights a team of military-grade Synths--androids like Bishop and David from the films--who escape service and settle on a backwater planet. When the United Systems come knocking with an offer to ensure their peace if they retrieve biotechnology from a planet crawling with Xenomorphs, the fabled "Steel Team" suits up for one final mission that could spell the end of this legendary squad. Preorder on Amazon If you don't want to wait for the Alien: Galaxy of Nightmares collection, you can also pick up Phillip Kennedy Johnson's runs in individual trade editions. Volume 1: Bloodlines is available in a physical paperback edition for $18, while Volume 3: Icarus is $15 (was $18). Physical copies of Volume 2: Revival are hard to find, but you can pick up a Kindle version for $11 (was $13). Picking up all three will be more expensive than the upcoming Galaxy of Nightmares collection edition listed above, but the upshot is they're available now.Marvel also has also given the Alien franchise its own "What If...?" series. Similar to the Marvel Universe "What If...?" series, this trade paperback takes a look at several pivotal moments in the Alien movies and ponders how the story would have played out differently.
