New Star Trek Movie Coming From Star Wars Director - Report

A new Star Trek movie from the director of the Star Wars TV show Andor is reportedly in the works as part of Paramount's plans to expand the Star Trek movie universe.According to Deadline, Paramount has hired Andor director Toby Haynes to direct "a new film that expands on the Star Trek universe." Seth Grahame-Smith, who previously wrote The Lego Batman Movie and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, is writing the script. J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot will produce the movie, according to the report.Deadline stated that the new Star Trek movie is an "origin story" that takes place decades prior to the events of the 2009 Star Trek reboot that featured Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock.
